Scion FR-S – Prep for Light Track Duty, Part 1
PCA set up a Time Trial at one of our favorite tracks – Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada, and the Boxster S would not be ready in time, so it’s time to take the FR-S to the next level and prep it for the track. Continue reading Scion FR-S – Prep for Light Track Duty, Part 1
Scion FR-S: Making a Cool Car Even Cooler
Our Chief Engineer needed a fun and economical daily driver for his day job, but it’s got to be sporty, and most of all, MEN LIKE US DON’T DRIVE HYBRIDS (at least until they get cooler and faster). Other requirements: Car can’t be too expensive, and it would be nice to have a good selection of reasonably priced aftermarket goodies to choose from. Might as well also throw in the capability to run the car at the occasional Autocross or Track event, and the list of potential candidates gets pretty small. This has been quite a weekend. We hadn’t decided until a week before to participate in the GPX/SGV Zone 8 Time Trial at Pomona Raceway. As this was a one day event, we would be driving up to Pomona and then heading home on the same day. On Hankook R-compound tires.

The 2011 Porsche Rennsport Renunion was held for the first time on the west coast at the historic Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California. And we had to be there.
Thousands of Porsche aficionados brought their Porsches to the corrals, as well as a dizzying display of historic Porsche road cars and race cars in the main paddock. Best of all, the attendees got to actually see the race cars run at speed on the historic road course. Hearing a 12-cylinder 917k accelerate at full throttle down the front straight is an experience we will never forget.
